About the Author:
Dr. Earl A. Reitan received his BA degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1948 and his Ph. D. in history from the University of Illinois in 1954. A veteran of WWII, he served as a rifleman with the 3rd Infantry Division on the Anzio beachhead, in the first wave landing in southern France [where he was wounded] and in the Vosges and Colmar Pocket campaigns. Presently, Dr. Reitan lives in southern Illinois with his wife Carol.
