Motion
defines our lives. Within this motion are the many duets we all
experience. These contemporary stories are about those duets: duets
with another person, people, forces, or "sacred" places,
objects and beliefs. Several stories bounce into the spiritworlds
of the Lakota and Chippewa.
The
cover of DUETS is from a painting by an internationally known Chippewa
artist, Roy Thomas, Thunder Bay, Ontario.
About
the Author
Many of the author's stories and poems in this collection have received
awards and have been contest winners both nationally and internationally.
He was awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board grant in 1999.
The
author lived as a child near the Winnebago reservation in Nebraska.
He has represented many tribal members in court and was a member
of the Wounded Knee trial team in the seventies. The context of
his stories is also formed from his experience as an international
lawyer and by the water environments of Minnesota, the Mississippi
River and Lake Superior. DUETS is his third book.
